Outlook Express v5.x (PC) - Account Setup

If you're having difficulty setting up your email account with Outlook Express version 5.50, follow these instructions:

Select Tools...Accounts

This will bring up the following window:

Make sure the Mail tab is selected, then click on the Add button...Mail. You will see the following window:

Display name

Your real name goes here (e.g. Joe Smith)

Click Next to move to the second step in the wizard:

Make sure the first radio button, the one next to I already have an e-mail address that I'd like to use, is selected and fill in your e-mail address.

E-mail address

Your email address is username@yourdomain.com

Click Next to move on to the next step in the wizard:

Fill in the following information:

Incoming mail server type	Select POP3 for your incoming mail server type
Incoming mail server name	Your POP3 server is mail.cybermill.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server	Your SMTP Server is mail.yourdomain.com

Click Next to move on to the fourth dialog box of the wizard:

Account name	Your account login is username%yourdomain.com
Password	Your password is personally given to you

Checking the box next to Remember password is optional, but make sure the box next to Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) is unchecked.

Click Next to bring up the final dialog box of the wizard:

Click Finish to close the wizard and the following window should come back up:

Make sure the account you just set up is highlighted, click the button for Set as Default, and then click the button for Properties. The following window comes up:

Under the General tab verify that the information is correct.

Mail Account

The Mail Account name needs only to be a name by which you will recognize the account (e.g. My Cybermill Account)

Click on the Servers tab:

Verify that the information is correct, check the box next to My server requires authentication, and click on the Settings... button. The following dialog box pops up:

Select the radio button next to Log on using and fill in the following information:

Account name	Your account name is username%yourdomain.com
Password	Your password is given to you and is the same as above

Again, the option to Remember password is optional, but the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication must be unchecked.

Click OK to save and exit this dialog box and to return to the mail Properties dialog box. Click OK to save these settings.

You can now send and receive email with your Cybermill account.
